Nistarini Women's College was established in the year 1957 and counted among one of the major colleges at Purulia, West Bengal. Since the inception, this women-only college with its huge 9.6-acre campus has been guiding women toward higher education. NAAC accredited, at present Nistarini Women's College is offering a wide range of 21 courses in 5-degree programs. The enrollment of students is 4,748 with a faculty strength of 39, thereby the student-faculty ratio is appreciable.

The aim of the environment at Nistarini Women's College is to render an environment which is conducive to learning with all modern amenities. The library is well-stocked with nearly 30,000 books dealing with different disciplines relating to humanities, social sciences, and science. Three girls hostels with all sorts of modern facilities run by competent staff provide accommodation facilities. Further, it provides for physical fitness through well-equipped gyms and sports grounds. Its excellent IT infrastructure and departmental laboratories support academic pursuits. Other facilities include an auditorium for events and seminars, a canteen where one can spend time over refreshments, and a guest house that puts up visiting faculty and family members.

Courses available in the college are many-16 undergraduate and 5 postgraduate programs. The undergraduate courses available are both arts and sciences with popular courses being B.A. Bengali, English, Sanskrit, History, Political Science, Philosophy, Economics, Geography, Music, and Science stream courses include B.Sc. in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Botany, Environmental Science, Zoology, Computer Science, and Nutrition. Coming to the postgraduate course, the institute is presently running an M.A. in Bengali. All these courses are full-time and provide optimum knowledge and practical exposure to students regarding fields of their choice.

A very good college for in depth learning.

College Infrastructure

Laboratories were there with sufficient equipment for every student. A very big library is there where a wide range of books are kept. Back then smartboards weren't used. Our classrooms were like a gallery classroom, huge and spacious.
