Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences Mangalore, established in 1992, is a premier Nursing education institution situated in Mangalore, Karnataka. It is one of the constituents of Nitte (Deemed to be University) where it functions as an independent unit. It is affiliated with INC so the institute is able to provide high quality education to the students. Located on a 5 acre land, this institute is handling the nursing programmes for 409 total enroled students. The Institute has a faculty team of 25 highly qualified and dedicated professionals, which makes sure a proper faculty students ratio for individual attention and quality education.

Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences has so many wonderful facilities that are so useful in improving the learning process as well as the development of the students. There is a rich library within the campus to support the students to have necessary and updated nursing books andournals. For practical training, it has departmental based laboratories reflecting environment of a healthcare facility in training of students. KS Hegde Hospital and AB Shetty Dental Hospital with 1200 beds for multi super specialty are within campus where medicare scheme allows the students to get free medical and dental treatment. It also emphasises on physical fitness with a modern gymnasium placed in an air conditioners with an area of 5500 sft with opening hours of 6am to 10pm with professional trainers and instructors. In terms of the extracurricular activities, the campus has vast sports complex with Athletic Running Track, Football Ground, Cricket Grounds and Court for tennis, basketball, volley ball and badminton.

Affiliated by NITTE Deemed to be University, Mangalore, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences aims at providing all rounded nursing courses for all levels and areas of nursing. The institute offers a total of 9 courses by different levels of study, and these are full time programmes. The undergraduate courses include B.Sc in Nursing, G.N. M (General Nursing and Midwifery), postgraduate level courses M.Sc in different fields of nursing and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing.

Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences students are admitted directly to the programme with academic results such as the qualifying examination results determining the students’ proportions. The institute launched its Student Nurses Association SNA in order to foster talent nurturing. The SNA offers many avenues for student nurses to demonstrate competence and enhances student development from the personal, intellectual, professional and social perspective.
