North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homeopathy (NEIAH) derives its education in Ayurveda and Homeopathy from Shillong, India. The NEIAH admission process is such that it selects only deserving candidates through national-level entrance examinations for different programmes. Therefore, the NEIAH admission process of merit-based admissions ensures that only the most deserving candidates are admitted.
The main entrance tests accepted at NEIAH are the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate programmes as well as the All India AYUSH Post Graduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET) for admission to postgraduate programmes. They are usually scheduled once every year early in the first half of the year, and then the results come out a few weeks after the exam date.
Application Criteria for the Bachelor's Degree, which is Undergraduate Admission: A candidate is supposed to have taken up 10+2 schooling, the compulsory subjects being Physics, Chemistry, and Biology for Undergraduate Programmes. The NEIAH admission process requires specific qualifications, including the minimum marks required in the qualifying examination, which may vary; therefore, the students must confirm them with the current academic year NEIAH website or information brochure.
The application process at NEIAH varies according to the specifics of the programme and the relevant entrance examination.
For admission based on NEET (B.A.M.S. and B.H.M.S.):
Admission process for AIAPGET-based courses (M.D. Ayurveda and M.D. Homoeopathy):
Admission is based on merit in the qualifying degree. The institute ensures a transparent counselling process and follows seat allocation strictly as per government reservation policies.
NEIAH offers a B.A.M.S. programme. Admission into the B.A.M.S. programme at NEIAH depends purely on the candidate's performance in the NEET examination. This programme typically runs for 5.5 years, along with an additional year. Candidate eligibility is determined by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), but also requires qualification in NEET to be considered for a seat.
NEIAH offers a Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (B.H.M.S.) programme. Likewise, admission to the B.H.M.S. course at NEIAH is upon the basis on NEET performance. This is also a 5.5-year course, which includes one year as an internship. The applicant should meet the requirements of the Central Council of Homoeopathy (CCH) and qualify in the NEET to be able to sit for this programme.
NEIAH offers an M.D. (Ayurveda) programme. Eligibility of candidates for these courses is a B.A.M.S. degree or equivalent qualification as recognised by the NCISM to take admission into those postgraduate programmes offered at NEIAH.
NEIAH offers an M.D. (Homoeopathy) programme. This admission process by NEIAH into its postgraduate homoeopathy programmes is based on the scores from AIAPGET. Diploma holders in Homoeopathy or equivalent were admitted by the CCH.
This enables candidates from diverse backgrounds to secure a place purely on their performance.
