North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homeopathy, Shillong Admission Process

North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homeopathy (NEIAH) that derives its education in Ayurveda and Homeopathy from Shillong, India. The admission procedure at NEIAH is such that it selects only deserving candidates through national-level entrance examinations for different programs. Therefore, the process of merit-based admissions ensures that only the most forsaking candidates are admitted.

The main entrance tests accepted at NEIAH are: the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate programs as well as the All India AYUSH Post Graduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET) for admission to postgraduate programs. They are usually scheduled once every year early in the first half of the year and then the results come out a few weeks after the exam date.

Application Criteria for the Bachelor Degree which is Undergraduate Admission: A candidate is supposed to have taken up 10+2 schooling, the compulsory Subjects being Physics, Chemistry, and Biology for Undergraduate Programs. Those specific qualifications including the minimum marks required in the qualifying examination may vary; therefore, the students must confirm it with the current academic year NEIAH website or information brochure.

Application Process

The application process at NEIAH varies according to the specifics of the program and the relevant entrance examination.

For admission based on NEET (B.A.M.S. and B.H.M.S.):

  • Register and appear for the National Testing Agency-conducted NEET examination.

  • Post the declaration of NEET results; the eligible candidates can apply for counseling through an appointed counseling authority.

  • During the counseling process, select NEIAH and desired program (B.A.M.S. or B.H.M.S.).

  • If allotted a seat, appear personally at NEIAH for the documentation verification as well as admission process.

Admission process for AIAPGET-based courses (M.D. Ayurveda and M.D. Homeopathy):

  • Register and appear for the AIAPGET exam.

  • Qualified candidates may apply for the above-mentioned program's counseling after AIAPGET results have been announced.

  • Select NEIAH and the desired postgraduate program at the time of counseling.

  • If allotted a seat, complete admission at NEIAH by submitting the required documents and remitting the necessary fees.

Degree-wise Admission Process

B.A.M.S.:
Admission into the B.A.M.S. programme at NEIAH depends purely on the candidate's performance on the NEET examination. This program typically runs for 5.5 years along with an additional internship of a year. Candidate eligibility is determined by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) but also has to qualify in the NEET to be considered for a seat.

Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (B.H.M.S.):
Likewise, admission to the B.H.M.S. course at NEIAH is upon the basis of NEET performance. This also is a 5.5 year course, which includes one year as an internship. The applicant should meet the requirements of the Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH) and qualify in the NEET to be able to sit for this program.

M.D. (Ayurveda):
Eligibility of Candidates for these courses is a B.A.M.S degree or equivalent qualification as recognized by the NCISM to take admission into those postgraduate programs offered at NEIAH.

M.D. (Homeopathy):
This admission process by NEIAH into its postgraduate homeopathy programmes is based on the scores from AIAPGET. Diploma-holders in Homeopathy or equivalent were admitted by the CCH.

Generally, the following documents are required for admission:

  • NEET/AIAPGET score card

  • Mark sheets & certificates of 10th & 12th standard

  • Degree certificate & mark sheets (for postgraduate applicants)

  • Valid ID proof (Aadhaar card, PAN card, etc.)

  • Passport size photographs

  • Category Certificate (if applicable)

  • Migration Certificate

  • Medical Fitness Certificate
