Nowgong Polytechnic, Nagaon was set up in the year 1961. One of the prominent technical institutions is Nowgong Polytechnic and is located at Nagaon in Assam. This is an affiliated college that holds the approval of AICTE. The institute offers courses in the form of different streams of engineering diploma programmes. Ever since the inception of Nowgong Polytechnic, the institute has enrolment of 486 students with 18 faculty members; hence, quality technical education is imparted to budding engineers. 

Nowgong Polytechnic offers four full-time diploma courses in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Computer Engineering, which cater to the diversified needs of the industry and the students in particular. The institute has various facilities to support the student in his learning process. The campus has separate hostel rooms for boys and girls and, thereby ensures a comfortable stay for out-station students. The library constitutes a storehouse of knowledge with ample tomes, journals, newspapers, and project reports. The hands-on experiences of the laboratories play an important role in technical education. The primary health center with the presence of a specialized doctor and a pharmacist takes care of the health and well-being of the students and staff. With the gym and sports facilities, the institute is also concerned about physical fitness. It is also an auditorium where events and seminars occur, thus instilling bright campus life. 

Nowgong Polytechnic offers a total of four courses of diploma degrees that are full-time. The institute has an approved intake of 170 seats across all courses. Nowgong Polytechnic has the highest intake with 60 seats in the Diploma in Civil Engineering, followed by 40 seats each in Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and Diploma in Electrical Engineering, and 30 seats in Diploma in Computer Engineering. The three-year diploma courses are aimed at training students to be proficient in practical and theoretical studies in their respective fields.
