Omayal Achi College of Nursing (OACN) was begun in 1992 and is one of the premier nursing colleges in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. On this 2.4 acres of land, this affiliated college provides quality education in nursing as it is recognised by the Indian Nursing Council (INC). OACN is aimed at providing a set of 12 courses at 4 levels of degrees for professional specialisation in nursing. The college has the total enrolment of students of 199 and at present 27 faculties, thus providing the good curing ratio and establishing excellent teaching-learning environment. OACN currently offers 12 courses offered which are full-time undergraduate, postgraduate, and Doctor of Philosophy. BSN is the college’s flagship programme with an intake capacity of fifty students to enable the preparation of competent nurses in nursing sciences. In the postgraduate level, the college speciality M.Sc programmes in Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing offering 6, Mental Health Psychiatric Nursing, Medical Cardio Thoracic Nursing. However, for those wanting to further their studies, OACN offers Doctor of Philosophy in Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing and Doctor of Philosophy in Community Health Nursing in full and part time. Further, the college provides Post Basic Diploma in Oncology Nursing for those who want to take their career further.
