The Panimalar Polytechnic Technical College was started in the year 1986 and it is one of the renowned technical colleges in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Located at Railway Colony 2nd Street, Aminjikarai, the 30-year-old co-educational institution is dedicated to moulding future engineers. Currently, PPTC occupies a total space of 3.3 acres, which provides a good environment for learning. It currently has a total student enrolment of 1,479 and faculty of 61, which makes for a proper student-faculty ratio. PPTC has four diploma courses that cut across the engineering field, hence giving students an opportunity to chase their engineering dreams.

The college also has an assortment of modern facilities that make the learning environment of the college efficient for the learners. This treasure trove of books is a place every student values and uses as a source of information, hence the following books: computer engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, electronics and communication engineering, and mechanical engineering. The fully air-conditioned library also has a Humanities and Sciences library section to ensure the students get a balanced collection to be read. PPTC boasts of the highly equipped laboratories; it has a physics’ lab, a chemistry’ lab, and a workshop practices’ lab to enhance students’ practical lessons. Otherwise, many aspects of the college are great, particularly the IT facilities through which the student is up to date on current technology. For extracurricular activities, the institution has provided sports grounds and an area for conducting events such as seminars. It also fosters the health of students through a health center that hosts facilities of first aid to the learners.

Panimalar Polytechnic College had four three-year full-time diploma courses for the students. These programmes are tuned according to different branches of engineering so that students can gain the important knowledge and skills. These include a diploma in computer engineering, a diploma in electronics & communication engineering, a diploma in electrical and electronics engineering, and a diploma in mechanical engineering.

The process of admission at Panimalar Polytechnic College is very strict and justifiable. Even for all diploma programmes, a committee of experts studies all the applications to draw a list of candidates who are to be interviewed personally. This is because during the interview all credential documents must be presented in original by the potential students. On successful accomplishment of the selection, the roll number-wise list of selected candidates is put on the college notice board; at the same time, individual intimation is given to the candidates by post.
