Prasannamani College of Physical Education and Yoga, a premier institution in Cuttack founded in 1982, is devoted to physical education and yoga. This co-educational college is situated in Tigiria, Cuttack, Odisha; the college stretch over a vast area of land, which is approximately 18 acres. Appendix 4: Certificate from NCTE As an affiliated college it has obtained recognition from the National Council for Teacher Education NCTE thus the quality assurance in the specialised fields of education. At present, the institute imparts three full time courses under two degree programmes where the over all enrolment of the student is 388. The college has a faculty of 18 members, which ensures a better student teacher ratio so as to provide favorable atmosphere for the contestants of physical education, sports, and yoga.

Prasannamani College of Physical Education and Yoga has instituted many amenities meant to complement the students’ learning experience. There are two sections, one for males and one for females in terms of the hostel, all students are supposed to reside in hostels in order to create togetherness and discipline. The following are important facilities in the campus; – Library; – Playing fields and Court; – Psychology Lab; – Educational Technology Lab; – ICT lab; – Health centre ; – Auditorium; – Gymnasium. The college also has a canteen facility and transport also with the bus facility with fixed bus routes to various localities.

Prasannamani College of Physical Education and Yoga offers a focused curriculum with three main courses: A Bachelor of Physical Education abbreviated as (B.P.Ed), Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.E) or Diploma in Physical Education (D.P.Ed) are other levels which are awarded to students who undertake various physical education courses. All these programme are full time on campus course are aimed to provide for sound education in physical education and yoga. The B.P.Ed programme is a new programme , which has been given the approval to admit 100 students while the D.P.Ed programme, which was established long time ago, was given an approval to admit only 80 students. The length of these programme is two years, which enable the students to undertake better research and gain practical experience in the area.

For the B.P.Ed and B.P.E programmes the admission will be taken based on the written examination and interview, Sports Proficiency test, Physical Fitness test. Even the marks of the qualifying examination are also taken into account. The D.P.Ed programme also depends on an entrance test for enrolment into the programme . These processes are in tandem with the policy provided by the State Government to follow a fair and rigarous method in the selection of candidates. The courses offered by the college such as physical education and yoga ensure that students interested in these disciplines enrol in the college.
