Rourkela Law College is one of the premier Institutions of legal education in Odisha, situated at Rourkela, the town booked in the year 1974. Located at Nayabazar, Sector-21, this affiliated college has produced legal talents for almost five decades in the city. The college which is located in a small area of 5 acres is famous for its affidavit of legal education. Rourkela Law College currently has 314 learners and 5 faculty members to ensure the learners can receive personalised learning experience. It admitted and affiliated as per Bar Council of India (BCI) norms and has got NAAC accreditation, as the institution firmly stands on quality education.

Rourkela Law College has made provision of numerous phases to augment the learning activity of students. At the centre of all of these is a library section which is comprehensive and replete with read-access to legal material. The institution boasts of a proficient IT system in the course learning so that they exhibit adequate understanding of current technological applications needed in the current legal environment. One such Advantage is the Moot Court facility through which the students get to understand the function of a courtroom and get trained in advocacy. For physically inclined student, there are facilities for sporting and gymnasium within the college. The campus has arranged different hostels for boys and girls to accommodate out station students. An auditorium is used as a hall for different meetings and seminars and thus contributes to a rich academic life. There is also provision for a cafeteria for beverages and a health centre with first aid equipment for the students of this college.

At present, Rourkela Law College is only running one main programme, which is, Bachelor of Laws (LLB) programme. This course takes three years of full time and aims at a systematic acquisition of different aspects of the law. It is, however, not clear how many of the total intakes of 314 students in the college will be for the LLB programme. Such a method enables the institution to keep a good student-teacher ratio since many students get a chance to be taught personally by the instructors. Thus, the college provides students with an opportunity to receive rich legal education, as the college concentrates only on the provision of the LLB programme.

The admission criteria of Rourkela Law College are mainly based on the marks scoresd by the candidates in the relevant examination. Qualifying examinations are used to assess the academic performance that any prospective student is expected to produce.
