RTC B. Ed. College Ranchi is one of the leading established in the year 2008 is located at Ranchi Jharkhand dedicated in the field of teacher education. This co-educational institution is an affiliated college that comes under the NCTE and recognised by the NAAC and accredited also. The college occupies a small area of land measuring 2.01 acres and provides only two specialised courses in education, but with a total enrolment of 460 students. The institute has a total of 28 members in the faculty, which ensures the conducive student : teacher ratio. The RTC B.Ed. College aims at producing professional educators through planned programmes offered in B.Ed. as well as D.El.Ed.
List of facilities made available by the RTC B. Ed. College to supplement the learning process of its learners: A professional library is also proved to be an essential learning resource centre for a teacher-in-training facility. It also has provided hostels for female and male students, which provide comfortable lodgings to those learners coming from distant areas. To the same, a modern computer laboratory, connected to the internet with 15 personal computers facilitates use of technology in the student’s practice. The college also has kept a Psychology Laboratory which is used to carry out experiments associated with B.Ed. syllabus. For over all development, RTC B.Ed. College provides sports and gym facilities. Other facilities present are a canteen, a hall for cultural programmes and seminars, and car park area for the members of the faculty and student body.
These courses have been developed and offered by RTC B.Ed. College, Ranchi, in two major areas of education. The B.Ed. programme, which is recognised by the NCTE, is a two year full time programme and the intake capacity of the course is 100. The second post graduate full time course is the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) which has 150 seats. As with the previous programme, both courses are intended to provide the student with the essential tools to succeed as a teacher. Combined total enrolment figure of the college through these two courses is 250 This totals the current strength of the institute to 460 students.
Regarding admission the college is following merit system as prescribed by the state government and the university to which the college is affiliated. For the B.Ed. programme, admissions are done by Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB). The board also conducts a state level B.Ed. Entrance Exam in on-line mode and the Counselling through Ranchi University. The D.El.Ed. programme me also gives an equal importance to the marks secured in the qualifying examination or the entrance test, as per the norms of the Jharkhand government.
