Sakthi Mariamman Engineering College [SMEC] was established in 2001 and is one of the leading colleges of Tamil Nadu located in Chennai. It is a co-educational institution connected with Anna University that has various engineering programmes for the students’ demands. Located at Narayanasamy Nagar, Thandalam, SMEC occupies a 10.89-acre land that offers the conducive environment to foster academic success and individual development to boot. SMEC has provided the best hostel facilities for boys and girls so that the students from different parts of the country can live without any inconvenience. Most of the hostels also feature all the facilities that match world standards, such as exhaust fans in the rooms, air-conditioning, and hot water supply all night long. Transport also forms part of the facilities provided by the college; buses are provided from different areas of the city for easy transportation of the day scholars. There is a large dining hall that can feed 500 students and is appropriate for students to have diverse meals at the same time.

SMEC currently has seven degrees full-time undergraduate engineering programmes in total which award the “Bachelor of Engineering” (BE), except for the Information Technology degree which awards a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech). They offer several courses of the following specialisations: automobile engineering, civil engineering, computer science and engineering, electronics and communication engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, mechanical engineering and information technology. The admission process at Sakthi Mariamman Engineering College is quite reasonable, or in other words, logical and reasonable all over.
