This college is one of the renowned teachers training college in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, which was established in 2007. This co-educational college is the only college affiliated to National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) offering specialisations in education. Set over a small piece of land of one acre, the college admits 200 students at a time and has a principal faculty consisting of 16 members. Currently SBM Teachers Training College offers two degree programmes that aim at producing professional educators of the future.

SBM Teachers Training College has over the years developed additional facilities aimed at improving the learning environment of students. A library filled with the appropriate materials plays a central role of meeting the information needs of persons who want to become teachers. To promote the students’ physical activity and team work, the campus has sporting activities that include facilities for sports. Since the college also required adopting updated methodologies for teaching and learning to meet today’s learning requirements, the college has invested in good information technology resources.

The courses offered by the SBM Teachers Training College are two full time courses in teacher education. The B.Ed programme is for 100 students and D.El.Ed is for 50 students. Each of these programmes is structured to take two years to complete and the whole intent is to train teachers who understand both the theory and practice of education.

The systems of admission at SBM Teachers Training College are constructed to approve the talents of the applicants. B.Ed admissions include marks secured in any qualifying examination and having a merit based on performance in an entrance examination for the B.Ed programme at IGNOU. The selection criteria is in compliance with regulations provided by the State Government of Jharkhand as well as the university to which the facility is affiliated to. Likewise, the admissions to the D.El.Ed Programme are merit based with the marks in the qualifying examination or marks obtained in an examination conducted by the state government as per the requirement.
