I have recently graduated from School Of Fashion Technology and I miss it every day. Not just my friends but my college life in general. I am not sure how to write this review, so in a true artist fashion, I'm going to organize before I go free with my pen ( or keypad?)
1. Infrastructure - I was a student specializing in Fashion Design and we have a load of practical subjects along with our theory which needs a special lab/ classroom for each. Our college provides 4 Pattern Making Labs and 4 Garment Construction Labs (Or in normal people language - Sewing Labs) which are all equipped with up to date machinery and enough Tables/ Machines for all of us. The Weaving Labs, Dyeing Labs, Computer Aided Design Labs, Art Rooms as well as several teaching rooms make up the "teaching infrastructure". In addition, we had a huge library with almost all the books you can find on each of our subjects. We also had a Display gallery at the entrance where the best of the work is often displayed.
2. Faculty, Seminars, and Visiting Lecturers - I personally had a great rapport with my regular faculty, all of whom have been really helpful and encouraging. Each and every one of the core faculty is knowledgeable experts in their fields. Our principal is an inspiring lady who always helped our students get knowledge and exposure from the international fashion industry experts. We had several seminars from National and International organisations at the head of our field.
We had to visit lectures with established industry experts and fashion designers which were usually kept for over a week to a whole semester.
3 - College Life and Student Crowd - Our college is a part of the MKSSS Women's Education Group, so it's a women's college but it has a huge diversity of student population from all walks of life.
We had a lot of events like the college initiated International Consortium of Green Fashion Conference, Youth Fests as well as several inter-college and inter-university events which brought together students from different departments and year altogether.
4- Fee Structure - Two words - Very Affordable. Especially when you compare it with other Fashion Colleges. In our field, you are always going to incur costs for material, fabric, and paper! (SO MUCH PAPER!) It makes it easy if you have such a great college for a much less fee.
5- Faculties I would never forget - Even though I am grateful to all the faculty members and have had an amazing experience from each of them, 3 always stand out for me.
1st - Our Principal -
2nd - The HOD for SNDT Wing as well as the Textile Studies professor -
and 3rd - The Fashion Illustration professor -
It has been a privilege being their student.
I hope this review helps you! All the Best!
P.S. Due to our college's copyright and photo sharing policies, I can't add any pictures on this website, but you can see them on the official website :)
