School of Social Work, Mangalore was established in the year 1960 by the Society of Daughters of the Heart of Mary, an International Catholic Religious Society. The college is managed by the Institute of Social Service Mangalore of Karnataka State. The college is accredited by NAAC with an A grade and is considered an autonomous institution. The college offers various courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. These courses include BA, B.Voc, BSW, M.Sc and MSW courses. The duration of these courses ranges from 2 to 3 years. 

SSW Mangalore admission is done on the basis of the scores obtained in the entrance examination and personal interview. The college offers placements to students in various companies. The college offers various facilities for its students such as hostel facilities, medical facilities, internet facilities, drinking water facilities and safety & security.
