Sevayatan Sikshan Mahavidyalaya was founded in 1959 and it is an affiliated college, established at Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal. Located on a sprawling 6-acre campus the institute lays great emphasis to dispense quality education. This college has obtained clearance from National Council for Teacher Education and has so far been offering two specialisation courses in B.Ed and MA Education. Its total enrolment of students stands at 319 and faculty strength at 17 surely invokes a learning atmosphere in the minds of most individuals.

Sevayatan Sikshan Mahavidyalaya provides many facilities to develop the basic learning environment and holistic development among the students. Separate hostels for boys and girls are provided for the students who have gone from different towns. A well-stocked college library contains a number of textbooks, reference books, and journals. Laboratory of psychology and educational technology is also available there, which is well-equipped for practical learning. An auditorium which can accommodate 300 students is available to conduct various academic and cultural activities. The college believes in all-round development; hence, besides these academic activities, the institution has a fitness centre, sports facilities, and a health centre where first-aid is provided. 

Sevayatan Sikshan Mahavidyalaya offers two regular postgraduate courses: B.Ed and MA Education. Both courses take two years to complete. This college is particularly dedicated to teacher education; it covers all sorts of courses that will make a student enjoy a prosperous career in the educational field.

Admissions shall be strictly governed on marks secured in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination as framed by the state government and the university. The college shall evolve a time bound admission process for entry into B.Ed course, which may, inter-alia comprise of entrance test or other selection processes as may be directed by the affiliating university from time to time.
