Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College commonly known as SLBSGMC, is a newly established institute in the year of 2017 in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India. This is a co-educational college established as SLBSGMC&H Mandi affiliated to NMC approved college for the medical aspirants. Located in a large 32-acre land the college teaches 3 courses in total across only 2 degrees and is focused on medical training. Besides, SLBSGMC takes total of 320 students with 103 members of faculty to train would be medical personnel. It is seen from the college social responsibilities of offering quality education with a variety of facilities and specialised programme offering.
SLBSGMC equipped with boasted series of facility which make learning experience and development of students favorable. The college has arranged individual and different hostels for boys and girls so that each of them may have a comfortable stay. An adequate health center with first aid equipment that can help the students when they get Sick is provided. The college library plays an important role of an information centre where almost unlimited literature on medical sciences is available. For Physical fitness and recreation , SLBSGMC provides one with different forms of sporting activities. The campus also comprises of a cafeteria where student can take a break and freely interact. Also in its physical appearance, there is an auditorium where various occasions, seminar, and academic meetings can take place, making the college social lively.
The college teaches three full-time courses in all, with two programmes being at the undergraduate level, and another one at the postgraduate level. The largest and most popular programme is the MBBS programme with 120 seats for students. At the Post graduate level SLBSGMC offers MD Microbiology with 4 seats and MD Pharmacology with 2 seats. The total enrollment of students in all the courses is one hundred and twenty-six which the college ensures in order to enhance the ratio of students per faculty to enhance on one on one teaching and quality education.
SLBSGMC’s admission procedure is merit based and the procedure is the same year round. For the MBBS programme admissions are through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Under Graduate (NEET-UG). Only candidates who take and pass NEET-UG are eligible and need to undertake the further counseling exercise. The fee structure for MD Microbiology and MD Pharmacology is nationally competitive and is determined by NEET-PG scores for admission. The college’s admission schedule is in compliance with the respective examination boards.
