Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College, Mandi, is a world-class medical college in Himachal Pradesh, India. SLBSGMC is affiliated with the National Medical Commission (NMC) and offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in medicine.
The admission procedure in SLBSGMC is mostly on the basis of national-level entrance tests. For undergraduate courses, admissions are done through National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG), whereas admissions for postgraduate courses are through the scores of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate (NEET-PG).
The academic year in SLBSGMC generally starts in August-September. The admission process begins with the release of NEET-UG and NEET-PG examination dates, and then there is the application process, entrance exams, declaration of results, and counseling processes.
Application Process
The application process for SLBSGMC differs based on the program:
For MBBS:
1. Register and take NEET-UG.
2. Pass NEET-UG by securing the minimum required percentile.
3. Submit an application for counseling to the authorized counseling authority.
4. Attend the counseling process and choose SLBSGMC according to merit and seat availability.
5. If a seat is allocated, join SLBSGMC for document verification and admission formalities.
For MD Microbiology and MD Pharmacology:
1. Get registered and appear for NEET-PG.
2. Pass NEET-PG by obtaining the required percentile.
3. Apply for PG counseling to the authorized authority.
4. Participate in the counseling process and choose SLBSGMC based on merit and seat availability.
5. If selected, complete the admission process at SLBSGMC, including document verification and fee payment.
Degree wise Admission Process
MBBS: SLBSGMC has 120 seats for its MBBS course. Admission to the MBBS course is done through NEET-UG. The candidates need to qualify NEET-UG and attend the following counseling process. The eligibility criteria are passing 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as core subjects and achieving the minimum qualifying percentile in NEET-UG as mandated by NMC.
MD Microbiology: The college has 4 seats for MD Microbiology. Admissions are made according to NEET-PG scores. Candidates need to have completed MBBS from a recognized college and passed NEET-PG with the specified percentile. The admission process can involve additional rounds of counseling according to the guidelines of NMC.
MD Pharmacology: SLBSGMC offers 2 seats for MD Pharmacology. Similar to MD Microbiology, admissions are via NEET-PG. Candidates must be eligible with an MBBS degree and pass NEET-PG. Final selection is via the NEET-PG score and the subsequent counseling process.
