SJ Mahavidyalaya Ramaipur Kanpur was established in 2006. The college is a private college and approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). SJ College Kanpur is an affiliated college of the Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur. The college offers various courses in the fields of Arts, Science and Education. The courses are available at three levels: diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate. SJ Mahavidyalaya Ramaipur courses at the UG level cover various courses in B.A., B.Sc, and B.Ed programmes. Similarly, PG courses cover M.Sc and M.A. programmes in various domains. Candidates aspiring to be admitted to the college need to satisfy the basic eligibility criteria. 

SJ Mahavidyalaya admissions on UG and PG levels are done on the first come first serve basis except for the B.Ed programme. For B.Ed and D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education) programmes, admissions are based on the merit for half the number of seats and on the counselling for the remaining half of seats in each programme.
