SJB School of Architecture and Planning (SJBSAP) was setup in the year 2013 with an aim to being the leading institution to provide built environment professionals situated in Bangalore, Karnataka. Located in the BGS Health and Education City, Kengeri, this affiliated college for architecture is approved by the Council of Architecture thus offering the best in Architecture and Design. The institute occupies a land of 13 acres and it is easily accessible due to the good infrastructure. At present, the total student population is 391 students and total faculty is 34 thus having a small classroom size. The institute offers four courses, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral under its educational domain of architecture and designing.

SJBSAP makes sure that only well equipped infrastructure is offered to students in order to to improve their learning environment. It has its own well stocked library which has over 600 books on architectures and 15 national/international journals and is functional 66 hours in a week. The Computer Aided Design (CAD) lab they offer state of the art stations so as to allow students to get familiar with the essential software. A climatology lab equipped with proper working instruments and models enable learners appreciate the need for climate-sensitive constructions. It also has large teaching spaces, common dining area, boys’ and girls’ accommodation, fitness centre, playground and space, canteen and hall for concerts and conferences respectively. A health centre with first-aid is available in the college to achieve optimum health condition.

The institute is understood to provide as many associated courses as possible to meet all possible career prospects in architecture and design. SJBSAP provides four main programmes. The institute offers B.Arch with 80 intake, B.Des with 30 intake, M.Arch in Construction and Project Management with 20 intake and PhD programme in Architecture. These courses are aimed at offering the students both the content knowledge as well as the professional skills necessary for a proper job in the given field. The B.Arch programme, which is considered the key programme of the Institute, aims at creating the desired set of creativity and technical thinking in order to become an architect.

The admission system of the SJBSAP is selective and based on the previous academic performance of the learners. For the B.Arch programme, the admissions are offered by the KCET merit list released by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). Besides, the institute also considers the scores of other national level entrance examinations including JEE Main, COMEDK UGET, and NATA. For the B.Des programme, the college administers its own Design Aptitude Test or has a specific cut off list. The admissions for M.Arch are made on the Karnataka PGCET scores list, however candidates may directly apply under GATE. The markup of the institute is that it offers academic inputs along with exposure and skills imprints on students.
