About SLES College of Nursing, Chintamani
SLES College of Nursing, Chintamani, Karnataka was set up in 2005, is a pioneer in providing nursing education in Karnataka. This co-educational college is situated near Chelur Road which is adjacent to railway track, and offers various nursing courses. The institute is located over a campus of nine acres and is affiliated as well as recognised by the Indian Nursing Council (INC). The college is a compartmented institution with a total of 277 learners and a staff of 35 personnel that keep aspiring health car tainted learners in a favourable learning environment. The college teaches 7 courses in two degree programmes and covers different branches of nursing so that students can receive wide education.
SLES College of Nursing has been equipped with various current structures which are useful in improving the learning of learners. Equipped with all the essentials of a modern library, the knowledge hall has thousands of books, dozens of magazines and journals, apart from an audio visual library. Some of the facilities include four computer laboratories that can accommodate a total of 120 students, all computers being connected to the Internet and owned by the college. To make suer that the actual practice is approximated, nursing student must have an equal point of practice in effective state of art nursing labs. Accommodation also factor is well taken care of with boys and girls hostels for out-station students available in the campus. To cater to the students needs and concerns regarding their physique a health centre with first aid, playing fields and a gymnasium is present. Affiliated by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, the college has a well equipped canteen with multiple color TV’s their play area includes a large 1000 seater auditorium that adds life to the college campus.
The nursing programmes at SLES College of Nursing make sure they provide a complete education to students at all levels of learning. It offers only seven fulltime programmes out of them four under graduation, two graduation and one postgraduation programme. By first degree, it offers B.Sc Nursing programme and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing . Also offered is five M.Sc Nursing specialisations each having a provision for 5 seats in the following specialisations: Psychiatric Nursing, Medical Surgical Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Paediatric Nursing and Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing. The aim of these programmes is to nurture skilled nursing professionals to fit the ever expanding career field of healthcare.
