Sophia Polytechnic, Mumbai, was established in the year 1970 by the Society of the Sacred Heart and is considered one of the premiere women's educational institutes in the core of the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra. It is an affiliated college in which AICTE-approved programmes are conducted, and quality education is imparted with care and concern for the overall development of the students. The institute lies in South Mumbai on a widespread piece of 4.586 acres of land, making it befittingly advanced for a modern-age educational setup. With a total student enrolment of 109, the institute has a faculty strength of 4, hence making available customised attention and mentorship to each student. This college offers 4 courses across 3 degree levels; it specialises in the fields of Hospitality Studies, Applied Art, Dress Designing, and Social Communications Media. This institute provides a range of facilities specially designed for the enhancement of learning experience and corporate grooming for students. 

Sophia Polytechnic, Mumbai is an affiliated college of Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education, Mumbai. The library, located on the ground floor, is air-conditioned—an oasis of knowledge, with an open-access system unique to it—and holds a special collection on Ethics and Spirituality. The budding photographers can take up the offer of a professionally equipped darkroom and a digital studio with state-of-the-art equipment. The computer lab is fully equipped with the latest technology, which is useful for developing exhaustive work for their portfolios. It also comprises sports, a gym, and a health center with the first-aid providing facilities. One of the distinguishing factors is the girls' hostel on the fourth floor with an excellent view of the Arabian Sea, accommodating 44 students. 

Sophia Polytechnic offers a total of 4 courses, all full-time. These are one Bachelor's degree, two Diploma courses, and one Post Graduate Diploma. The B.Sc in Hospitality Studies admits 60 seats, while the Diploma in Applied Art and Diploma in Dress Designing and Garment Manufacturing admit 30 and 40 seats respectively.  These programs serve individual interests and career aspirations, and, therefore, students can start off with a very sound foundation in their relevant fields.

The admission process of Sophia Polytechnic changes course-wise. Most of the courses are merit-based with qualifications in previous academic careers. But for this Post Graduate Diploma in Social Communications Media, I had to face an online test and interview. 

 The AICTE approval sanctions the institute's commitment to serving as a quality education provider. The college, although lagging in mentioning specific scholarship information, can truly be attributed to its observant and sensitive attitude towards arranging for maximum accessibility of education to deserving students.
