Sri Raaja Raajan College of Education was started in the year 2007 located at Amaravathipudur, Sivagangai District, Tamil Nadu is a co – educational institution. This affiliated college for teacher education is recognised by NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) only. Lying on a 5 acre land, the college is still small with total student population of 199 and total faculty of 11 members. Sri Raaja Raajan College of Education offers two full-time courses: Bachelors in Education (B. Ed.) And Masters in Education (M. Ed.) The courses prepare students who want to be teachers of teachers at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels alike.

The college contains ample of resources that can add up to the abilities of the students in learning their lessons. A professional Digital Library with resources for distance learning helps prepare future teachers. For the lovers of sports and all fitness related activities the college offers very good sporting facilities as well as a good gym. Accommodation is provided in forms of hostels to cater for students who pursue their courses far from their homes; there are hostels for both male and female students. These hostels are run by competent wardens who are always charged with responsibility of ensuring that their beneficiaries are well taken care of. A large hall on the territory of the university is also used for various meetings and seminars, which contributes to the active life of students. Sri Raaja Raajan College of Education has two full time cources in teacher education. The B.Ed programme was certified to take one hundred students, while M.Ed programme was approved to take fifty students. Each of the programmes is meant to be accomplished within two years, so that the future educators will receive profound preparation. Placing emphasis on these two core programmes affords the college to have a unique focus on prepping the students for successful careers in teaching. Admission into Sri Raaja Raajan College of Education is done based on an applicant’s performance in the previous academic year examination and/or the entrance examination. About the admission of the B.Ed programme the policy according to the State Government, UT Administration and the affiliated University is followed. Similarly for M. Ed programme the selection procedure are done according to the government rules and regulation of the state government university or UT Administration. This also serves to eliminate any compromise of admission processes for all the candidates in that course.
