The affiliated Sri R.N. Deshpande Government First Grade College, Mulgund, Gadag was set up in 2007. It is a government institution spread on a 5-acre campus located in Lucknow and it is NAAC-recognised. It has four under graduate courses namely: B.Com, three specialisations of BA and total enrolment at college level is 406. The college has 11 members in the faculty which implies favourable student-instructor ratio so that each student receives individual attention and education.

Sri R.N. Deshpande Government First Grade College has instituted a number of facilities aimed at improving the general learning process of students. Libraries with fully stocked books ensure that a student gets almost all the materials required in a particular course. A college auditorium contains various occasions such as seminars making the college a lively environment. Due to advancement in technology the institution has well developed IT facilities, its importance in imparting handling technologies to the students. There is also sports facilities for those with interest in any physical activities and engagements necessary for balanced students’ lives between academic and extra-curriculum activities. Besides, the college continues to foster a close relationship with its former students through an active Alumni Association, whereby they sit down annually to deliberate on academic activities, infrastructural developmental needs and other needs that are of paramount importance in the development of the college.

Government First Grade College threatens to offer a total of 6 full-time programme out of which all are regular programme. The college provides six types of degrees: B.Com, BA, B.Sc, BCA, BBA and BVA. The total student intake capacity was found to be 406 in the college which clearly depicts that the college is very much concern in maintaining number of students per section required for efficient class environment.
