About Sri Sarada College for Women, Salem
Sri Sarada College for Women is one of its kind, autonomous women only college which was established in the year 1961. The college is re-accredited by NAAC with a B++ grade and is supported under DST‑FIST and DBT‑STAR schemes. SSCW Salem offers full time courses and are offered at undergraduate and postgraduate level only.
Sri Sarada College for Women programmes are offered across arts, science, and commerce. UG programmes include BA in History, Economics, and English, BSc in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Home Science, and Computer Science and BCom. The postgraduate programmes include MA in History, Economics, Tamil and English, MSc in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. All the programmes have a self‑financed option available.
Since the college is affiliated with Periyar University thus the UG admissions are based on merit following the norms and guidelines of Government rules. PG admissions are also based on merit, where in both the level requires previously held examination marks as a base to check the merit scores.
The college offers various facilities to ease up the academic tasks, thus the college provides facilities like spacious classrooms, science and computer laboratories, and a clean campus environment. The college also offers hostel facilities.
Apart from the above facilities the college also offers placements facilities. As per NIRF 2025 the college helped a total number of 58 students from undergraduate programme and 24 students at postgraduate programme to get placed at a SSCW Salem median salary package of Rs 2,64,000 - Rs 3,00,000.
