Established in 2005 in Pavaratty, Thrissur, Kerala, St. Joseph's Training College, Pavaratty is a teacher education institution with a great name and reputation. The college is affiliated with the University of Calicut and recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), which is responsible for the maintenance of high standards of training teachers. 

The college offers the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) programmes. The total number of D.EI.Ed Seats are 100 seats, out of which 50% are reserved for the management quota. The students are given the option to choose one out of the seven subjects for the paper: Malayalam, English, Mathematics, Physical Science, Natural Science, Social Science, and Commerce. 

Admission to the courses is through merit. The method of admission is carried out as per the directives of the Kerala state government and the university. The conditions for the selection of D.El.Ed. candidates are passing of 10+2 or an equivalent certificate; for B.Ed., graduation from a recognised university is required; and the candidate will be selected based on the marks obtained either in the qualifying examination or the centrally conducted admission process.
