SCTE Kohima which stands for State College of Teacher Education, Kohima is an esteemed college which has significant role behind new education system of the future. This college, especially for boys and girls, was founded in 1975 in the scenic town of Kohima, a district in the state of Nagaland. Sponsored by Kohima College, being an affiliated college SCTE Kohima has got recognition from theNational Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) to highlight its importance towards teacher education. Situated just on 5 acres of land, the college provides a dense academic setting for its 190 students in enrolment. The faculty of 23 dedicated educators of SCTE Kohima facilitate a low student teacher ratio which is student friendly. At the moment the college has two post and undergraduate programmes in education specialisation.

SCTE Kohima currently has some of the following facilities that favour learning of students in the college. The college possesses a library with an estimated collection of roughly 10,000 volumes of books, and the documents are classified under nearly all areas of educations. It also has a collection of references and includes subscriptions to different magazines for students to get access to several materials for effective study and research. The library has an INFLIBNET facility for e-libraries and e- resources which ensure that students are up to date with information in the library. Designed to support practical learning, the college possesses departmental laboratories for students to apply the obtained knowledge. The campus has installed modern physical infrastructures as well as network connections that makes readiness in front line, particularly in light of the current world where the Internet is an essential component. Models such as complete teaching learning activity, computer, Sciences, Technical and others are provided for holistic development and for sports and personal interaction facilities like an auditorium for functions and seminars, gymnasium and cafeteria are available.

The college offers two full-time courses: these are a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and a Master of Education (M.Ed) programmes. These are two year programmes, which aims to produces professional, competent and knowledgeable teachers. In B.Ed programme the college has an approved intake capacity of 50 students and for M. Ed programme also it is 50 students and that is a total of 100 students only. These programmes are designed to offer the necessary background information on theories relating to education, practices, and methods which will enable anyone who takes the course to be fitted for class teaching and or educational administrative positions.

SCTE Kohima is liberal when it comes to admission where the Council looks at the marks scored in the examination and or entrance examination. As CUET UG scores for the B.ED programme , the college follows the national standards of admission into colleges and Universities. Merit based admissions norms have been set by the State Government/ Central Government, University /UT Administration which are followed in the M.Ed Programme as well. This kills off the rot that only a few hard working and competent students are allowed to join SCTE Kohima hence keeping the integrity of the institution’s courses high.

SCTE Kohima also has hostel accommodation that can accommodate females only, with total 24 beds. There are TV, indoor games and 6KV generator for power back up for the women’s hostel to give a comfortable and secured place for the out-station students. The college actively sustains alumni relations with the student community, this is important because, current students can always seek advice from previous college students when seeking job vacancies or any other issue pertaining employment.
