About Tata College, Chaibasa

Tata College was established in the year 1954, it is one of the constituent college situated in Jharkhand – INDIA. Located on 39 acres, the college provides multiple educational programmes for its students, 5010 of which are currently enrolled. Tata College is an acronym for quality education as it is NAAC accredited. The teacher education programmes are accredited by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), which guarantees an appropriate level of quality of the institution. The college has a strength of forty committed and qualified faculty members who support all the three degree programmes of the college – in Arts, Science and Education.

Tata College offers a wide range of facilities intended to improve the performance of the institution and the quality of students. The central Library functions as a nodal centre where students have access to text books, references, journals etc., and e-resources available through INFLIBNET facilities. Since Ras Alkhair College is an ideal place for the student-athletes, the college has a football ground, a badminton pitch, a cricket pitch, interior hall, and gymnasium as well. College has Birsa Memorial Hall cum auditorium having the capacity of one and half thousand people for any event of the college. Students have facilities like modern laboratory, Boys and girls hostel and health care unit to cater the medical needs of the students. Most of the campus is Wi-Fi enabled and the campus has good fun for effective academic achievement. Other facilities are a cafeteria, shop and a spacious car park which are a great boost to comfortable campus living.

In total, there are three full time courses that are available in Tata College for students pursuing full time education in different disciplines. Our broad based programmes include Bachelor of Arts (BA) which offers general education and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) which offers strong science orientation and the Bachelor of Education (B.ED)which is tailor made for those who intend to be teachers. These include the Bachelors in Education which has a given capacity of taking in one hundred students in satisfaction of the colleges’ focus toward training teachers. Lacking precise data of the potential total of graduates it provides, the College’s total student newly-intake capacity of 5,010 proves its worth in augmenting the stock of higher education in the region.

In the case of admission to the Tata College for higher learning, aspects of admission are strictly based on merit and are open. For the B.Ed programme , the assessment is done following the guidelines set down by the state government as well as the University through merit in the qualifying examination/entrance examination. Some of the entrance exams accepted by the college are not defined clearly except that they accept various sorts of tests.
