Thanjavur Medical College, Thanjavur (TMC) is one of the oldest and premier medical college which was started in 1959. This college is affiliated to the government of Tamil Nadu and is conducting medical education for the past more than six decades in Thanjavur. TMC is recognised by NMC and provides its students with numerous courses connected to the sphere of medicine. This college per se take a total of 1,814 students for all its courses offered while the faculty core consist of 105 members which makes the college environment appropriate for students who wish to venture into the field of medical field. TMC comprises of 28 courses under six degrees: MBBS, MD, MS, M.Ch, DM and Diploma, for different specialties in the health sector.

The admission of students to Thanjavur Medical College and Hospital majorly open their doors to students who sit for national level entrance exams. For MBBS programme, the admissions are open and are offered in accordance with National Eligibility cum Entrance Test only. University programmes offered to students include MD and MS courses for which students are selected through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduates (NEET-PG). Masters level course like M.Ch and DM have conditions wherein the candidates have to pass in National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Super Specialty (NEET-SS).
