Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Pune, was founded on the 26th of June in 1933. The institution underwent a name change in 1962, becoming known as 'Tilak Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya.' It holds the distinction of being Pune's most ancient 'AYURVEDA MAHAVIDYALAYA.' Since its inception, approximately 7000 undergraduate and 1100 postgraduate students have successfully completed their education at this institute and are now actively contributing to various fields. This institution receives support from the Maharashtra state government and is affiliated with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik. Notably, Tilak Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya is not only Pune's first but also its oldest Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya.

The admission to Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, Pune is based on the NEET score. Admissions are given by merit in Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Director of Medical Education and Research, Government of Maharashtra, Mumbai. Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) graduate degree awarded after the study of five and a half years duration, including 1-year internship, the course offered by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik and approved by Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM).
