The Universal College of Education for Women was started in the year 2008 at Vallioor, Tirunelveli District. This co-educational institution is recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education for approving its quality standards in the education of teachers. The college is confined to a one-acre area and at present it has a total of 152 students in two programmes and a faculty of 9 members. Universal College of Education has only one specialisation in education and this is in offering quality teachers for the future world.

Universal College of Education for Women counts numerous amenities made to promote the learning process as well as the personal growth of students. The campus has both strengths and weaknesses in sports facilities; both indoor and outdoor equipment are available to encourage students' involvement in sports. There is a large and well-equipped seminar and conference hall which act as an auditorium to conduct seminars, workshops, etc. For a student in college, this institution owns a library, which is a source of books and other relevant material to the learner. Having equipment and other accessories such as psychological experimental models makes it easy for students to practise on experiments with more practical knowledge concerning the same. The college also possesses a well-equipped computerised hall with internet amenities that can be used by the students to explore new knowledge from the internet and to lightly enhance their technological knowledge. As a measure of convenience to students and staff, the college has a canteen where food and snacks are served, vegetarian/ Non vegetarian. The first aid, being a basic level of medical attendance, is available to the students and the campus. The college also offers transport facilities for the students who go by their personal cars, bicycles and autos from different areas of Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari districts.

Universal College of Education, an affiliated college of Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai, currently offers one full-time course: The B.Ed stands for Bachelor of Education, a professional course. It is a two-year course with a total intake of one hundred students for those teachers who want to develop a solid grounding in educational theories and practices. B.Ed is one of the professional courses and as such, the course is developed to prepare the students as effective teachers. The total student enrolment capacity of the institute regarding all courses is 152 making it clear that the B.Ed programme is the flagship programme run by the college.

Institutional policy with regard to admission to the Universal College of Education is purely on a merit basis as specified by the State Government, U.T. Administration and the University to which the college is affiliated. Qualifying examinations and/or entrance examinations form the basis of assessment in qualifying candidates for admission. The college may also apply other admission processes that may be in existence at the time of admission. OUTR and objectives Universal College of Education and the students are not only focused on the academic aspects of the students. The college also has its Training and Placement Cell that provides the student with placement for teaching jobs in different schools and colleges with attractive packages. Also of importance is the social pillar of the college, of which is the Alumni Association, a channel through which past and current learners exchange professional information and cooperation. This association not only helps in making professional contacts but also offers help in the form of money to the needy persons and thus upholds the Cause-Commitment of the college and welfare of the students in it.
