Vaidyaratnam Ayurvedic Medical college, Thaikkattussery, was established in the year 1976 and exists as a premier institution in the country for Ayurvedic education. It is an affiliated college, situated in Thrissur, Kerala which approved by the Central Council for Indian Medicine Act. Located on a land of 3.642 acres, the college provides 3 courses under the following two degree programmes and a total enrolment capacity of 271. The institute has 32 members in its faculty which will always provide favourable student/teacher ratios. It is a co-educational college which admitted students from all over the world and it has specialisation in Ayurvedic medicine at the undergraduate and post graduate level.

The admission procedure at Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda college is standard and merit based. For the BAMS programme, the admissions are through the common entrance examinations conducted by the Government of Kerala. Admission of aspirational students requires passing of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG). For postgraduate courses such as MD Ayurveda Vachaspati and MD Kayachikitsa, the admission will be done through All India Ayush Post Graduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET) and the NEET PG examination.
