About VCET Madurai

VCET aims to be a centre of excellence in providing modern education to students and was established in the year 2007 in Madurai of Tamil Nadu.The institution WCET offers undergraduate and postgraduate as well as research programmes in various domains of engineering and technology. Located in a 14.48 acres campus this autonomous college is NAAC accredited and AICTE approved. VCET has total 15 courses are offered with three different degrees and total student capacity is 2012 while total faculties are 138. The breakdown of the students is as follows: Undergraduate male representing 59% and female student representing 41% while at postgraduate level, male students are 34% and female students 66%.

VCET offers all the mod cons to support the learning experience of the students. Departments in the college have standard laboratory facilities with all requirements for practical sessions. It functions as a repository for both print and electronic material and provides students with full access to IEEE/ASME/ASCE e-library. For the accommodation of students the University has separate hostels for boys and girls, 600 and 300 respectively for first years. Such comforts as RO water plants, internet facilities and ATM services are provided for in these hostels. The college also has sports facilities to enhance on exercising and spirit of competition among the learners. The lost and found and the bookstore and library provide other essential services for the various inhabitants of the campus.

Among the institute’s academic packages, they have 15 programmes where they offer different courses at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level. At the undergraduate level VCET offers B.Tech and BE courses in the various discipline of engineering at the Postgraduate level it offers ME courses and MBA. All the courses are on full time basis and most of them are regular courses. The overall admitted capacity for all courses is 756 students per year.

However, the admission’s criteria at VCET can be said to be more merit-based with certain standards. Undergraduate programmes in engineering the college admits students based on TNEA counselling scores. In case of postgraduate programmes such as MBA, TANCET scores hold good, as in the case of under graduate programmes. The institute also validates other competitive exams for other courses as well. Moreover, VCET also makes scholarships for students, where 121 undergraduate students got refund in academic year 2023. There is a good connection between the college and industries presently and the college has a pool of successful and placed students of technical college.
