VCET Madurai Admission Process

Velammal College of Engineering and Technology (VCET), Madurai, one of those prominent autonomous institutions used to provide undergraduate and postgraduate programs in diversified fields of engineering and technology. The instituent has accredited NAAC and also sanctioned by AICTE.

The most common mode of admission in VCET is through merit, which, however, varies with parameters among various programs. For undergraduate engineering programs, Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counseling scores is the basis for admission. For postgraduate programs such as MBA, marks obtained in the TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test) matter during the preparation of the merit list. The college gives some other entrance tests for admission into other courses.

Most years, the academic calendar at VCET begins in August or September and students are typically admitted a few months earlier. It is recommended for students to check specific dates and closing deadlines of the admission process, as such may differ for each program.

Application Process

For B.E./B.Tech courses:

  • Qualify plus provide the minimum requirement for 10+2 exams with relevant subjects.

  • Register for TNEA counseling.

  • Participate for: TNEA counseling, opt for courses and VCET.

  • Allotment of seat entitles candidates to report to VCET for document verification and other admission formalities.

For M.E. degrees:

  • Qualify with the TANCET examination (or specific other entrance examinations given by the college).

  • Apply through the VCET portal or as described by the college.

  • Attend any further selection formats if called for by the department.

  • Acceptance of admission includes fulfilling requirements for the submission of documents and fees paid.

For the MBA program:

  • Pass the TANCET test.

  • Apply as directed to the MBA Program.

  • Attend requisite selection processes, including but not limited to group discussions and personal interviews.

  • Complete the admission process as directed if successful.

Degree-wise Admission Process

B.E/B.Tech: VCET offers a multitude of undergraduate programs including Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and other popular areas such as Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Cyber Security, and VLSI Design and Technology. As stated in the end, admission is based on TNEA counseling scores. The total sanctioned strength varies from 60 to 180 seats per course.

M.E.: The college offers M.E. in Computer Science and Engineering, Communication Systems, Manufacturing Engineering, Network Engineering, and Power Systems. Admission is said to be based on TANCET scores or any other relevant examination. Every M.E. program constitutes an approved intake of 9 seats.

MBA: VCET offers an MBA program with a sanctioned intake of 60. Admissions are done based on TANCET scores followed by additional processes for selection which comprise group discussions and personal interviews.

Documents mostly required for admissions generally include:

  • Passport-size photographs

  • 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates

  • Degree certificates and mark sheets (for postgraduate applicants)

  • Entrance exam score card (TNEA/TANCET as applicable)

  • Community certificate (if applicable)

  • Transfer certificate

  • Migration certificate (if applicable)

  • Any additional relevant certificates as specified by the institute

Academic wise they treated as a scheme student and they more concentrated on only that.i think in current World the companies not focused in mark they see what the knowledge students gain during the academy .

The quality of teaching has nothing to find a black dot , we are encouraged to do more than academics too. The placements make us feel that we are job ready. The electives chosen are so updated and only for the current affairs.
