Vivekanand College, Kolhapur, founded in 1964, is one of the most premier educational institutions in the state of Maharashtra, India. This affiliated college has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. The affiliated college name is Shivaji University, Kolhapur. The college offers a wide variety of programmes at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in different disciplines. Spread over a campus of 7 acres, it has a total student enrolment of 4,202, with a gender ratio of 49% males and 51% females. It houses 44 dedicated faculty members who help students in their pursuit of knowledge through its 27 courses, with specialisations in science, commerce, arts, and vocational studies, under 10 different degrees.

The modern facilities in the Vivekanand College also underpin its concern for making a student's learning experience easy and on hand. The library, being a very important constituent of academic resources, is housed in an independent three-storey building covering an area of 8,800 square feet. The facilities provided include a well-stocked collection, study rooms, and a Virtual Learning Centre that fulfil the requirement for effective learning among students and faculty members. 

The institution is also well aware of the students who might seek accommodation services; hence, the hostel accommodations are different for boys and girls. For example, the girl's hostel can accommodate 200 students in 64 well-furnished rooms divided within two three-storey buildings. The campus boasts an auditorium named after the founder of the Sanstha, Dr Bapuji Salunkhe, where he used to conduct a number of cultural activities, seminars, and conferences.

Vivekanand College offers various courses in both undergraduate and postgraduate streams, and it covers 12 undergraduate and 15 postgraduate courses. The undergraduate courses comprise traditional B.A., B.Com, B.Sc. degrees; professional courses such as BBA and BCA in Self Finance, and new-age B.VOC in Graphic Design, Foundry Technology, and Animation and Film Making. Some postgraduate courses open for students on the campus are MSc degrees in organic chemistry, mathematics, and physics; MCom; and MVoc. 

The admission process at Vivekanand College is inclusive and totally based on merit. It considers academic performance in the qualifying examinations to admit students in different programmes.
