Established in the year 1965, Vivekananda Polytechnic College is located in the town of Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, and offers the assistance of technical education in its matrix. This affiliated college, recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), is located on 60 acres of land that provides the right atmosphere for learning institution. Overall student enrolment is 597 and the faculty strength is 47 so that enough attention and quality education are paid to each student. Vivekananda Polytechnic College has five full-time diploma courses in its syllabus and all the courses take three years to complete. These have been made across departments of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics engineering. Electronics & Communication engineering, Computer Engineering. The college can admit a total of 360 students in all courses offered, with Mechanical Engineering being the largest course offering with a capacity in this college to offer 120 students, while other disciplines in the college have a capacity of offering 60 students each. This diverse range of programmes ensures that a student selects a field that they want to work in or a field that they feel passionate about.

The admissions process at Vivekananda Polytechnic College is made very simple and qualifies the needs of the students. Many polytechnic colleges in Tamil Nadu admit candidates according to their 10th standard or equivalent marks may be obtained.
