Established in the year 1965, Vivekananda Polytechnic College is located in the town of Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, and offers the assistance of technical education in its matrix. This affiliated college, recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), is located on 60 acres of land that provides the right atmosphere for learning institution. Overall student enrolment is 597 and the faculty strength is 47 so that enough attention and quality education are paid to each student. Vivekananda Polytechnic College has five diploma courses in different branches of engineering for the interest of the learners who want to be technicians or engineers.

Vivekananda Polytechnic College is well equipped with facilities that complement learning to ensure that it is an all-rounded affair. Students are privileged to access well-equipped laboratories used in practical lessons in their areas of specialisation. The library plays an important role of being an information centre, providing students with many materials for scholarly work. For those who wish to remain residents, the college has two hostels, one for boys and the other for girls, to enable the students live comfortably. Vivekananda Polytechnic College has five full-time diploma courses in its syllabus and all the courses take three years to complete. These have been made across departments of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics engineering. Electronics & Communication engineering, Computer Engineering. The college can admit a total of 360 students in all courses offered, with Mechanical Engineering being the largest course offering with a capacity in this college to offer 120 students, while other disciplines in the college have a capacity of offering 60 students each. This diverse range of programmes ensures that a student selects a field that they want to work in or a field that they feel passionate about.
