60 MonthsBachelor's in Civil Engineering at CEPT University is a unique engineering program focused on creative problem-solving and technological innovation in the wider aspects of construction industry. It is situated within an ecosystem of allied disciplines like architecture, planning, and management, focusing on built environments. It is the only engineering program in India that is centered on studio-based teaching. Small groups of students engage with real-life problems under the guidance of studio tutors. To tackle the complex problems of the world today, problem-solving skills need to be second nature to any working professional. The 'studio' teaching style inculcates problem-solving, independent thinking, and an action-oriented approach among the students, constituting the bulk of the academic credits in the curriculum. The studios are supported with mandatory courses, electives, and skill-enhancing workshops to expand students' conceptual, theoretical, and analytical abilities.
The five-year program leads to a B.Tech (Honours) Civil Engineering degree. The program provides a fundamental education in major aspects of civil engineering, i.e., structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, environmental engineering, transport engineering, fluid dynamics, and construction engineering and management. There is a focus on establishing core foundational knowledge in the first year and then moving on to more advanced, specialist knowledge in the latter four years. This program is also collaborated with International universities for a semester long exchange of the students, providing a diverse opportunity to learn about teaching methodology, culture and life of the associated place.
The program further trains students for real-world experience by placing them in professional training in various civil engineering companies/projects and consultancy firms across India for a complete semester. This is followed by a dedicated research project to build independent problem-solving and learning among the students.
The program opens many avenues for students to pursue postgraduate and doctoral studies. For further studies, a graduate from this program might hone his/her skill by focusing on construction engineering, structural design, infrastructure design, or shifting to allied professions such as urban planning, management, etc. Several graduate students undertake higher studies at some of the best universities in the world. We have a strong network of 1500+ alumni who are making an impact in the construction sector in India and abroad. They have risen to the highest professional levels as design professionals, entrepreneurs, building contractors, researchers, and construction managers for high-impact corporations and construction enterprises across the globe.
The faculty in the program comprises highly experienced academicians with excellent professional and academic rigor. Apart from the full-time faculty members, visiting professors and practicing professionals from the industry regularly teach studios and courses, bringing practical experience to the classroom.
