My review about SVNIT is between very good & excellent as no one is perfect and all systems have voids to fill with good changes , Here in SVNIT we have a good environment, awesome hostel life, nice seniors and juniors all helping each other, it’s also famous for central canteen here you can get the food at nominal rates, I have seen when any alumni comes in campus they first visits the central canteen . the campus is greener and much cooler than outside. After coming into the students’ council and closely understanding about administration of the institute, the problems College faced/facing (that’s a different issue of faculty recruitment) and areas in which still we can improve, I believe that in-spite of all the hurdles and other issues it has grown a lot in terms of infrastructure and intime of the students of 1st year, due to inspections by accreditation teams brought about a little more development because according to that only the institute will get required funding’s . Yeah I know when we will ask anyone about the institute who are at present studying, we all will have a lot of problems to say which is must to make changes & there is nothing in that. As changes don’t happen overnight, it take time to improve the things and make changes, and it is not impossible and YES there is lot to improve from sports, curriculum, few rules, and transparency of budget. Believe me the things that I have worked out during my tenure can be done in month or so, they are very clear and easily be implemented with little efforts. Institute needs a strong and clear director to handle the institute – & deal with so called its politics

Today I am sharing my college experience from beginning of joining the institute to till now.. I am 3rd year student of mechanical engineering student.. First of all I will share my experience on college life &infrastructure.. - NIRF ranking by MHRD-2016 in this SVNIT,Surat get 12 overall rank in India In engineering field.. U can take admission through jee-main. Here u can enjoy canteen, sports(but sports ground maintenances is very bad)but college is very supportive for taking participation in inter-year/inter nit/inter-university etc.. Our college also organises a sports fest-IGNIS in which many colleges are doing participate.. An annual techno-culture fest is the largest fest of Gujarat. It is organized by students committee.u will show ur management skill &technical skill. Most benefit of this college it is situated middle of Surat.u can reach easily everywhere where u want..like the shopping mall, beach, daman, Mumbai, others... now my experience says that faculties of mechanical branch of this college is best in comparison to other NITs & some newly operated IIT..bcoz here all the lab facilities are available of each practical subject.like workshop,CNC machine,UTM,cryogenic lab..maybe above 10 lab.. Here 90% faculties are having doctoral degree(ph.d) from reputed universities of India & abroad..

I think SVNIT have best infrastructure in comparison of all others nit's. Campus of svnit is very beautiful and have good environment in it. There is not any pollution near the campus so it is good for healthy. I'm enjoying alot at here because I found svnit is best for me in any point of view. If we talk about placement in campus then average package in civil engineering is 5LPA and highest is 19lakh per annum(In BPCL) and lowest is 3.5LPA . IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING average around 6.5lpa and highest is 19LPA(IN BPCL) . IN computer engineering avg. 9lpa and highest 27lpa. Etc. And svnit hostel is very best and there is proper cleaning of hostel.

I as an localite( i.e. lives in same city as the college) dont have an experience of hostel life but according to friends living in hostel, hostel life is better than other college of Gujarat. As an student, the faculty of SVNIT is best in electrical and mechanical department. The student crowd is also friendly and the atmosphere of college is much positive. The demerit of the college is that the students especially localites have to walk a long distance to attend their lectures.

Probably the best NIT of all. Situated in the posh areas of surat, offering best of transportation facilities to every corner of the city, access to every commodity and above all with the much needed exposure in our daily lives. It covers an area of about 250 acres so initially that's the must thing to do once you join i.e. to explore the entire college. It has actually so many things to surprise the visitors. So then comes it's infrastructure. Many buildings have been recently built and others been renovated. However, some departments just lack in the instruments been provided. As a matter of fact of one of the oldest nit's, the infrastructure will not disappoint you at all. Coming to placements, I have a rough knowledge about it. Large number of companies have visited the campus over the years and still continue to visit and don't leave any deserving candidate. Next what is very important is the faculty which is amazingly good for all the branches except ECE as far as I have heard till now. Very Interactive, helpful, motivating are some qualities which I've noticed in them. For all the non surti's, hostel life will be very comforting with good food, nice wardens, hygienic and spacious rooms, and whole lot of new learnings and experiences.

If asked to give a holistic rating to SVNIT, it definitely stands above average among Engineering colleges of India. For me , my experience of 4 years there really lies close to my heart. Ohh.. I just grew nostalgic..But talking practically, I would list down the upsides and downsides. Upsides: > Gives exposure to the melange of people hailing from different parts of the country with different cultures and ideas. Sure to find some interesting people and intellectuals around. > Placements are decent. >College fests are grand and give opportunities to take up responsibilities and manage. >I was a day scholar but, as I know, hostel and food facilities are very good. >Good internet connectivity and library facilities. >Seniors can be great help too. >Campus spread over 265 acres, home to many peacocks, has idyllic charm. Downsides >Except for few faculty members, quality of faculty is frankly, poor. (But it does not matter much, some students manage to take up projects on their own and can get the help from some profs. too. ) >Curriculum is not that challenging.

The teachers at this college are experts in their fields, impart us great practical knowledge. Wonderful campus, it is very big and looks calm and peaceful for studies. Hostel life is nice. Placements were very good at my time, actually I am pass out. Excellent companies come here an if you have good knowledge, then your placement is sure with a very good pay package.

I am a passout of 2012-16 batch.I have done my bacholers in Electronics Engineering from SVNIT. The college days were definitely one of the most memorable ones of my life.Collge is one place where you not only get to learn the intricacies of a stream but also explore and evolve yourself as a person.SVNIT provided the right environment for both. There were sufficient resources available for a student to pursue technical field. The labs are okay-ish.The industry exposure is limited and placement scenario is also a bit discouraging.(Applies only to my Department - Electronics Engineeering though) Yet the teachers were appreciative of talent and hardwork. They also supported and encouraged the students who genuinely sought their help and/or guidance. Moreover the college infrastructure is the Unique selling point (USP) of SVNIT.The hostels provided excellent accomodation and really good internet connectivity at an amazingly subsidised (government funding) cost. But any college is not good just because of its infra or the quality of teachers.Students,in fact are the heart of a college. The peer group in the college surely met the quality expected of a premier institute.I was lucky to have such a band of talented people around me - which helped me grow as a person and simultaneously make lasting friendships in the process. These were an batch of champions in eclectic fields - be it in geekiness, sports or in creative endeavors,MAD i.e. Music, art and dance. Finally what I really liked about our college was that although there was an emphasis on discipline (Mandatory attendance requirement, many disciplinary committees etc) the college acknowledged and respected the individuality of its students. Most of our students decide to follow their heart - May be continuing in the technical field, taking a job or going for non technical careers - in government administration or management - The range is really amazingly diverse. But these multitudes of hopes and aspirations and achievements are bound together by that one common thread - our Alma Mater : SVNIT. The huge 100 acre campus of SVNIT houses a sports center, the department buildings, a few small gardens and 14 hostels, the last four of which are newly constructed. Although the older hostels might show some signs of dilapidation, they have all basic facilities. What’s more, they’re going to be torn down and reconstructed very soon, and will then have all sorts of cool amenities. Work on a few of them has already started, and is going forward at a fantastic pace. A maximum of two students live quite comfortably in each room. All the hostels, departments and canteens are completely wi-fi enabled, and other parts of the campus are connected with high speed LAN. The laboratories in various departments are very well maintained, with ample amount of working equipments. The computerized central library has more than enough books, and is air conditioned. They have an excellent sports center where you’ll also find a hi-tech gymnasium; the college encourages all sorts of indoor and outdoor sports.

Girl’s hostel is especially very good, Food quality is very-very good, College is centrally located in city. The College normally doesn't provide more opportunity for industry exposure & extra circular activities. From hostel point of view it need improvement for boy’s hostel. College faculty is to more concentrate in students practical trailing. College alumni meet are to be more frequent. However from further studies point of view, college area & city is having ample opportunity for competitive exam preparation in close proximity.

The infrastructural facilities are improving every year.New buildings and equipment for labs are set.The proffessors are keen at undertaking some private projects and thereby enhance corporate exposure. And about college life, administration gives full support to student counsil and thus our college life is filled with full of fests, friends and healthy relations. As far as i am concerned, our dept.has the best proffessors(dont know much about others).

Surat is the best city to live in. Beach is not so far, Gujju people are really cool and helpful, and best of all please try all the restaurants as well as road side food (Specialty of Surat). If you are going for core branches then the college is really good but if you are going in EC then you will end up with an IT job in hand again computer science is great. If your future plan is MBA then SVNIT is best choice. Alcohol and all kinds of drugs (everything else you know or ever heard of) is not allowed in side campus LEGALLY. Campus is a beauty, you wont find better campus, infrastructure is great. Just Go For It.

The hostels are beyond awesome, and the infrastructure is matchless, only you need to be able to study everything for yourself if you want to choose this college. In terms of placements, it is good enough, and as if comes to industry exposure, we need to take initiatives, as the faculty is least bothered. Don't choose this college if you can't study all by yourself, as the teaching is hopeless.

Hostels are best in India, better than IITs. WiFi is really good. Faculty improved a lot in the 4 yrs I was there. Everything -food, cinema halls, malls etc just outside campus Gate. Good bus service and transport at affordable prices. Fests are awesome, with large crowds. Celebrity night in sparsh fest is one of the most awaited events in college. Renowned singers like Vishal shekhar, salim sulaiman, Javed Ali have been to campus. GYM facilities are really good with nice instructors. Intracollege sports events like MMNCT Cricket tournament etc are something to look forward to.

Infrastructure is very good but faculty is not up to the mark. very good extra-curricular activities. Placement is also good with average package of 4-5 lacs. Hostels are very good with wi-fi and LAN connectivity. College can better if some qualified faculty is added.Hostels are Equiped with all basic needs like good and clean rooms with wi-fi and LAN Connectivity and very good living conditions. Variety of Student Chapters are available if you are interested to do research in any field.

Our college was given the 2nd rank among all NITs this year and it has a good infrastructure and the new hostels made are the best of what one can get in an engineering college, best part being that our college is at a very great location as there are lots of eating joints nearby. The college crowd was also good but the faculty for senior years and the placements and the package(compared to other NITs) can be improved.

Facility of the internet made me so happy that we won't feel bored during leisure period. Here they are providing 24*365 days internet facility with good speed.this college is providing placements to the b.tech students only, for m.tech students will get teaching jobs.

Overall, college is good IN infrastructure etc. But some of the faculties are more concerned about your Attendance rather than studies. In other words, some faculties are dumb. The best thing I like in college is Drishti and don't get it wrong. Drishti is a technical club of our college. Canteen is also good and wi-fi is awesome.
