About Cutoff at IIIT Guwahati
Indian Institute of Information Technology, Guwahati is one of the prestigious information technology institutes of India. Every year thousands of students fight for a seat in their prestigious bachelor program of 4 years. The institution was founded in 2013, and since then the cut-off competition has only hiked from one year to another. The B.Tech program is for four years and has 200 seats to offer to the students. There are two branches in the bachelor's program, computer science, and engineering and electronics and communications engineering. The ECS has 85 seats whereas the CS has 115 seats.
The seats are filled by the JEE MAINS entrance exam that is held every year in the country. The students who appear and qualify for the JEE mains are only eligible to sit in the counselling. The counselling is held under the JoSAA. The students who qualify will have to apply for central counselling in which they have to fill their choice of college. After this, the merit list is released for each and the college separately. This process of counselling takes place in 6 rounds. After 6 rounds the seta matrix is released. The cut-off ranks of the institutes are released based on the branch and the category of the student. After each round of counselling, the IIIT Guwahati will release their opening and closing ranks for each branch and category.

Factors determining the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Guwahati cut off
When it comes to cut off ranks in entrance exams like JEE MAINS, several things matter the most. These factors together decide the opening and closing rank of the merit list of each college. The factors that are responsible for the cut off list of institutes are:
- Number of seats: the very first thing that will decide the cut of the rank of each institute is the number of seats they offer. All central institutes have seats divided as per category and reservation. The closing rank will be released as soon as the pre-decided number of seats in each branch and category are filled.
- Number of applicants: the closing rank and opening rank is also decided by the number of applicants who are applying for the same college, same program, and same branch. The more the number of students, the lower will the cut off and the more will be competition for each seat in a program.
- Number of candidates in JEE Mains: every year the number of students applying for the JEE mains is rising significantly. As the number of students appearing for the exam is growing, the competition is also growing rapidly; this is leading to higher marks scored by students and thus leads to lower cut-off ranks in the merit list.
- Category of student: each student appears in the exam under a certain category like GEN, OBC, SC, ST, etc. now, every institute has a separate number of seats fixed for each category. The seats are allotted as per one category, and if the seats are filled, then the allotment is closed.
- The difficulty of the exam: as the exam gets tough, the student performance also dwindles. The students tend to be scoreless, and this causes the average score to dip. The tougher the exam, the more competition, the average score will be less, higher will be the cut-off rank.
