ApplyNAAC A+ Grade | Ranked No.1 Private University in India (QS World University Rankings 2025)
Hello aspirant,
As IISER cutoff marks have their own criteria to select the students. Cutoff marks can be depends on different school boards such as CBSE, ICSE and Other state boards. Cutoff list mentions the minimum required score by the applicants out of 500 in class 12th. Also cutoff lists depends upon the different categories like GEN/EWS, OBC,SC/ST and PwD.
If you belong to CBSE board and you are in general category then you should score 427 marks, if you belong to OBC then score should be 416 marks, if you are SC/ST then 376-396 marks.
And you scored 68 marks so chances seems to be less to get any IISER.
Dear aspirant,
Actually IISERs do not declare cutoffs , neither do they declare individual marks. They just declare if the candidate is selected or Not.
I am providing you the link where you can have a look at the previous year's merit list and get an idea about your chances for admission in IISER. There you will also find other information related to IISER which may be helpful.

I hope this helps!
Hi Anurag, I think yes, you can get seat in IISER but it is quite difficult. The competition has been going up really high over the last few years, so inorder to get into the most deemed IISER's usually high score is required.
However, if you have availed the float options and if you have luck on your side, then if not in the first round, in second or third round you may be shot at the IISER.
Best of luck!

Hey Udayan,
At first many many congratulations for your success in JEE ADVANCED 2020.
We all know that without officially released cut-off details for top and eminent IISERs by the conducting authority we can't make any accurate comment regarding your admission chances. So we have to go for the previous year's cut-off details.
Hence after analysing those informations, I can assure you that you've enough probability to grab a seat under SC category in these 4 IISERs mentioned below:
So don't need to be worried. You can also check the following website to ensure my estimation:

Hope that the Careers360 JEE ADVANCED college predictor tool must be quite helpful in this regard:

Wish you all the best.
Hello Aditya!
You must know that the board cutoff has been reduced to 60% this year due to covid-19 crisis. You can check that in the official website too.
You just have to cross the 60% mark and you can then appear for IAT. It doesn't matter if you score 95% in non-medical stream.
Coming to your IAT score which is 33, it is very low if you compare with previous year statistics. The students who were from the general category got their 3rd or 4th preferred IISER in the last round of allotment with 80+ marks . From the reserved category, at least 70 marks in IAT is required for the same.
With 33 marks it is impossible for you to get any IISER(even the newest ones). Unfortunately, you don't stand a chance for IISER Mohali too.
There is no use to be disheartened. When there is will there is way. Start preparing for the exam again or utilise your back up plans.
All the best for your future!
Hi Aryan,
After securing a 3108 SC Rank in JEE Advanced and 65% Marks or above in the 12th Board exam, you are eligible for admission to IISER through JEE Advanced Channel.
Based on previous years' trend, you have a chance of getting new IISER colleges like IISER Tirupati and IISER Thiruvananthapuram.
All the best.
Hi,
Last day to complete IISER application form was on 18th August , 2020. As you have only filled the application form and had not done the payment, you application form is considered as incomplete. So, you cannot complete the application process now as the last date for the said exam has been already over.
Hi,
There are certain common norms which are followed for getting admission in any of the IISER. You cannot attend the counselling process because you haven't filled the application form of the said IISER. You need to fillout the application form, then on the basis of JEE , KVPY, SCB exams admission is guaranteed in the IISERs.
