Hello Ashish !
Though there is no official release of cutoff marks or rank by the IISERs, but it is generalised that at least 70+ marks is required for reserved seats in the newest IISERs.
It is very unlikely for you to get any IISER with 21 marks in IAT. Please note that your board % doesn't play a great role for getting you in the merit list because you just have to cross the cutoff for SCB to appear IAT.(i.e 60% for all boards this year)
There is another chance for you in the next year.
All the best!
Hello Ananya !
There is no release of cutoff marks or rank by the IISERs officially for the SCB stream. But it is generalised that a score of 70+ can be enough to hope for a seat in the newest IISERs in third and fourth or last rounds of counselling.
This year the IAT test was at par with the other year's with good level of difficulty. So, it is expected that the cut-offs for each round shall go down by a margin of 8–10, which makes your chances of getting in by the 2nd round and if not then the 3rd Round. Your list of preferences play a great role in predicting if you can get a seat . So, if IISER Thiruvananthapuram or IISER Bhopal is in your first or second preference, you can get it in 2nd or 3rd round of counselling. Otherwise, you have good chances to get IISER Tirupati or Berhampur after 3rd round of counselling. Sometimes ,post counseling rounds happen to mop of the remaining seats . If this happens, you can expect a seat in IISER Mohali in the worst circumstances.
Nevertheless, if you get IISER Tirupati or BPR in 3rd round, you can float to a higher preference of IISER. You definitely have chances to be honest!
I will just request you to be patient till the last rounds of allotment and keep checking your mails.
All the best !
Hello Ashish !
Though there is no official release of cutoff marks and rank by the IISERs but it is very unlikely i.e impossible to bag a seat in any of the IISERs with 21 marks in IAT with any kind of reservation.
It is generalised that about 75+(with reservation) in IAT may get you a seat in the newest IISERs. But 21 marks is too low....
Please note that that the board cutoff for every board is relaxed upto 60% due to the COVID-19 crisis. And you just have to cross the cutoff, it doesn't play such a big role for getting you in the merit list, only your marks in IAT does(along with your reservation)
There is no need to be disheartened...you can try again and excel in the exam again. When there is will, there is way !
All the best !
Hi,
The NEET exam is an entrance test for admission to undergraduate courses of medical and allied medical health sciences after class 12th. The paper is multiple choice question type and question are asked from following subjects -
Physics
Chemistry
Biology.
So while preparing for neet exam if one give other entrance exam for which the syllabus is almost same like neet it will benefit to him/her.
hcu entrance exam, ICAR ug entrance exam, IISER aptitude test all are the entrance exam for admission to undergraduate courses after class 12th. The eligibility rule to apply these courses may vary.
However if the syllabus for these exam is same as that of neet exam it will definitely help you to carck these type of entrance exam.
Hope it helps.
IISER HAVE 3 CHANNELS FOR ADMISSION THAT IS JEE ADVANCED, KVPY AND, SCB. So you cannot get into a IISER with this percentile if you have not performed well in JEE Advanced.
For IISC, the cutoffs are higher than what you are getting so there is a very less probability that you will get into IISC too.
All the Best for future.
Hey, I would like to say that the minimum marks required to secure the seat in any IISER varies from year to year. Here there are three rounds in selection. Scoring around 96/180 were allotted seats in the first round itself for general category. So definitely you get seat in IISER .
Hi Writabrita Bhattacharya !
There is no release of official cutoff, the observations are made based on the marks obtained after students see the answer key.
In 2019 the cutoff for Unreserved category was 88–90 and EWS was around 84 ,this time considering the increasing seats by 20% and the intake through SCB channel in about 75% increase, it's possible that the cutoff further reduce to around 76–80 marks .But it also depends on the level of difficulty of this year's IAT as compared to 2019. Turns out that the IAT 2020 was at par as compared to 2019.
Still, 60 gives a fairly low chance while 80 is somewhat safe whereas 70 stand in between.
Nevertheless, don't loose hope and keep checking your emails for updates. Be patient till the last rounds of allotment (there may be chances to get seat in the newest IISERs i.e Tirupati and Berhampur). It also depends on your list of preferences. There may be post allotment rounds so it is requested to be patient till the last.
All the best !
Hello Aspirant,
At this marks it is very difficult to get IISER. There is very less chance to get IISER. IISER cutoff has own criteria. I depend on some factors like school board (CBSE,ICSE and other state board), minimum score by the applicants and also depend on category.
If the candidate belong to CBSE board and from general category then candidate should score approximately 420 marks, if Candidate belong to OBC then Candidate score should be approximately 400/410 marks, if candidate are from SC/ST then the score is approximately 370marks.
And as per your marks it is very difficult to get IISER.
I hope this information is helpful for you.
All the best for your bright future ahead.
