Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering is four years (8 Semester) full-time undergraduate engineering program offered by Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati.

The B.Tech. the program offers a comprehensive fundamental education in mechanical engineering, emphasizing basic sciences and mathematics, followed by engineering sciences and engineering design. The curriculum covers all disciplines of mechanical engineering including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, solid mechanics, materials, manufacturing, computer-aided design and drafting, dynamics, control, mechanical systems, and mechanical design.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must be the final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by a Central or State Board recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a Board or University recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.
Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.
Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.
Any Public School, Board or University examination in India or in a foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the AIU.
H.S.C. vocational examination. A Diploma recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) or a State Board of Technical Education of at least 3 years duration.

Admission Details

Students are selected for admission to the above programmes through Joint Entrance Examination for IITs (IIT-JEE-Advance).

College Infrastructure

Environment and infrastructure are one of the strongest points of IIT Guwahati. Greenery is available with scenic beauty of mountains. Food available in messes are of good quality and various facilities are available including that for health. There are various labs available including CS labs, Chemistry labs, Physics, Mechanical workshops, Electronics labs, etc. There are separate hostel libraries and also a central library. There is also a gym available in every hostel and a central gym too.

Amazing experience so far in two years.

College Infrastructure

Yes, being one of the top 7 engineering institutes in the country, infrastructure is surely not an issue in our college. With proper hygiene, extremely well internet facilitied with speed more than 100mbps, well built and maintained lecture halls and academic complex, fully equipped laboratories with every facility required for students, the infrastructural development in our college is one of the best to be seen.
