IGIDR has a small but well-maintained campus. Classrooms are simple but comfortable, and the library is one of the best parts — it has plenty of economics books, journals and research papers. Hostels are provided and are decent for students. The campus is quiet, which is good for study.
Academics at IGIDR are very strong and serious. The MSc Economics course is tough and focuses a lot on theory, maths, statistics and research. Classes are detailed, and we need to study regularly. Teachers are highly knowledgeable and push us to think deeply, not just memorize. It is not easy, but if we are interested in economics, we learn a lot.
Placements at IGIDR are good, especially for students interested in research, policy work, PhD or analytics-related roles. Many students go for PhD programs, research jobs, policy institutions or think tanks. The institute’s name helps in future opportunities.
Fees are low as compared to the quality of education, faculty and exposure we get. If we are serious about economics, research or policy-related careers, it is totally worth it.
Campus life is simple and calm. There are fewer fests and parties compared to big universities, but students bond well through discussions, group studies and hostel life. It’s a place where people mostly talk about studies, ideas and research.
IGIDR is best suited for students who are genuinely interested in economics and research
