To be eligible for JIPMER, you must pass in all subjects of Class 12 and along with that your minimum aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology should be -

50 percent in case you belong to General Category
40 percent if you belong to SC/ST/OBC Category
45 percent if you belong to PH-General Category

So yes, 50 percent+ aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology is enough to make you eligible for JIPMER (as long as you meet the other eligibility criteria such as your minimum age should be 17).

Hello Sufyan,

The cutoff marks changes every year depending on various factors e.g. difficulty of exams, the total no. of students appeared, etc. Last year the cutoff marks for general category students was 161, 153 for OBC, 142 for SC and 123 and 144 for ST and NRI candidates respectively. So as per last years cutoff you need to score a minimum marks around these numbers to be eligible for counselling.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Hello Chandra Prakash Sahwal,

Thanks for contacting Careers360.

From the year 2016, after the commencement of NEET there is no other entrance examination which you can give if you are planning to pursue a career in medical field. Except for JIPMER and AIIMS, all other colleges in India take admission and conducts counselling for its MBBS seats only based upon NEET ALL INDIA RANK. So, if you want to get admitted in any medical college in India, you need to give NEET, AIIMS or JIPMER.
Hope this helps.

Hello aspirant,

As per the NEET eligibility criteria, candidates must have undertaken 2 years of regular and continuous study of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology at 10+2 level with practical tests in each of these subjects. This means that your Class XI and Class XII must have been pursued in consecutive years with the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology in both. Apart from this, you should have cleared Physics, Chemistry and Biology with an aggregate of 50% and also passed in English separately. Now coming to Biology as an additional subject. There are three meanings to Biology as an additional subject in Class XII:

That you did not study Biology in Class XI but only opted for it in Class XII as an extra subject to the ones you already had, or

That you cleared your Class XII without Biology but wanted to improve your overall scores so opted for an improvement exam and took Biology as a subject, or

You wanted Biology in your Class XII marksheet so you appeared only for Biology separately after clearing your Class XII exam earier. lt does not matter if Biology appears in your marksheet as optional or additional or elective or with any other term as long as you have studied it in both Classes 11 and 12. If you have, then you are eligible.

Hope this is clear now! All the best!
