72 MonthsThe doctoral programme in chemistry is a research-oriented degree programme of NIIT University. Students as well as working professionals can participate in NU’s Ph.D. programme (Full Time/ Part Time) for Chemistry subject. The aim of the Ph.D programme in chemistry is to provide an environment for individuals to develop the skills to become leaders in scientific research and education, capable of making original contributions to the advancement of chemistry and related disciplines. Students can pursue research with specialization in the traditional areas of chemistry, but much of the research is interdisciplinary, crossing the boundaries of these traditional chemical sub-disciplines, or the boundaries between chemistry and the other sciences Programmes leading to the Ph.D. degree is offered in Chemistry subject.
Ph.D. programme shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work and a maximum of six years. Extension beyond the above limits will be governed by the relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned.
Eligibility Criteria
- A master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the master’s degree, by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed)
Or - An equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognised or authorised by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions.
Admission Details
- Admission to PhD programmes shall be according to a merit list based on a written entrance test of 70% weight followed by a Research Interaction of 30% weight.
- Applicants who have qualified for fellowship/scholarship in UGC-NET/UGC- CSIR/NET/GATE/CAT/CEED and similar National level tests as well as those who are employed at the level of Assistant Professor or higher in educational institutes in India will be exempt from the entrance exam.
