Admission Process

The eligible candidates will be invited for the Written Test (SUN Ph.D. Entrance Test -SUNPET) at SUN Campus. Candidates who have qualified M.Phil., UGC-NET, JRF, UGC-CSIR, SLET, GATE, CAT etc are exempted from attending the SUNPET.  

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. Programme shall have a Master's degree of a recognized University with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC(with non-creamy layer)/NT/SBC/PwD.
  • Candidates who have cleared the M.Phil. Course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed and successfully completing the M.Phil. Degree. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (with non-creamy layer)/NT/SBC/PwD. 
  • M. Tech. / ME or equivalent in the corresponding branch with 60 % or 6.75 on 10 point scale from a recognized university
