Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology (AIET), Mangalore, Karnataka, was set in 2008 to offer quality education in engineering field. This college is a private college and is affiliated with the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, which has received the A+ grade of the NAAC in the academic excellence tests. AIET is a large campus is located in 30 acres of campus and the institute offers undergraduate and post graduate programs in Engineering and Management. The total student intake to the Institute is 1,751 and faculty which is 117 and therefore has a healthy student-faculty ratio. AIET currently offers 12 courses at two different study levels, and all of these programs focus on the most innovative disciplines, including AI, machine learning, and data science.

It has since developed good physical structures throughout its campuses that are well equipped to support the education of its students better. Modern learning resources center which is a large number of books for search and learning are stocked. Contemporary teaching laboratories meet everybody’s learning requirements in the different learning domains. Current infrastructure includes well implemented Information Technology with internet and Wi-Fi on the campus to allow the students internet access and utilization of technological facilities for learning. Sports is an inevitable part of the curriculum and to support this area of development AIET has facilities like a playground as well as indoor games space. It also has a modern gym which is pivotal for the achievement in various tasks, so students feel free maintaining their fit physique. The university boasts of adequately sized theatre and an auditorium suitable for various events and seminars enhancing campus activity.

The AIET proffers 11 Undergraduate programs in Engineering disciplines and a Masters in Business Administration programme at the postgraduate level. A majority of the institute’s courses are full-time, on-campus as it aims at delivering intensive educational programmes and experiences. At the end of 2023-24 academic year, the total number of student enrolled in Institute was 2,273 out of which 2,036 students (90%) were pursuing their under graduation and 237 students (10%) were pursuing post graduation. This institute has the capability of intake of 960 students as per the approval of the different courses provided in the institute so as to cater the requirements of the new students.

AIET has a selective admission policy based on the candidates’ performance on their examinations and their scores on the AIET entrance exam. The candidates, who WANT to seek an undergraduate engineering degree, are required to write entrance tests like COMEDK UGET and KCET. Those seeking MBA admission have to give CMAT, MAT, KMAT or Karnataka PGCET. Admission in the institute is competitive and the Admission Committee considers all the applications before selecting the best performers for interview]. This has enabled AIET to ensure that it admits students who have the best performance as well as the capacity to deliver on range of tasks in their chosen disciplines. There is a scholarship programme in the institute whereby 426 students in their first year of undergraduate studies were beneficiaries in the 2023 academic year. The institute also admits students from other states and accounts for a 5% representation of students from other states helping to compose a diverse student populace.
