Yes, preparation and exam pattern for CAT and GMAT are quite different. While CAT is computer based test, GMAT is computer adaptive test. The syllabus and question types also vary a lot. While conceptual clarity is common for all exams, specific exam taking skills would vary. In case you are planning to appear for both exams, you have to prepare separately.

If XAT is held in Kathmandu, you can appear for the exam from that centre. In that case you will be exempted from taking the test. Otherwise you  can take GMAT and apply through that score.

The Graduate Management Admission Council has not set any GMAT 2017 eligibility criteria. Hence, a candidate is not required to fulfil any particular GMAT eligibility criteria to apply for GMAT. However, since GMAT 2017 score is used in the admission process of Masters or Post Graduate courses, test takers are ideally required to have an undergraduate degree to cross further levels of the selection process set up by the school they plan to apply to.
