Asmita College of Arts and Commerce for Women, Mumbai was established in 1989 and has become a symbol of women's higher education in the city of Mumbai. Affiliated with all the three Universities of Mumbai, the college has been a 'haven' for young minds for over three decades situated at Kannamwar Nagar 2, Vikhroli (East). The sprawling compact campus of 0.41 acres is home to an energetic community of 1,134 students and 28 dedicated faculty members. There are five undergraduate courses available under three degrees-major arts, commerce, and computer science. NAAC accreditation of the college and strict adherence to very high academic standards reflect quality education. 

Asmita College has a vast array of facilities for further improvement in the learning experience and all-round growth of the students. Central, most significant academic resource is the college library. A great collection of approximately 23,000 books is there in the library which covers a wide range of disciplines, mainly for the commerce students, which includes management, marketing, advertising, environmental science, and economics. The library also supports Marathi medium students by having a rich collection of books on history, political science, and economics. 

To update the students on latest affairs and research, the library maintains a subscription to journals, periodicals, newspapers and CDs. For those interested in sports and fitness, the college has an up-to-date gymkhana on the ground floor, measuring 414 sq. ft., with modernised exercise equipment. The games facilities include indoor and outdoor sports, which include cricket, badminton, carom, chess, and table tennis. The computer laboratory at Asmita College occupies about 880 sq. ft. and is equipped with 55 configured desktop computers to ensure the provision of maximum utilisation of IT resources to the students. 

Asmita College of Arts and Commerce for Women offers five programmes, which are purely full-time courses. They have included the BA, B.Com, B.Com (Computer Applications), B.Sc in Computer Science, and B.Sc in Information Technology. The undergraduate courses are designed to include a significant variety of academic interests and professional aspirations.
