Bhag Singh Khalsa College for Women at Abohar, known as ‘BSHKC’, began in the year 2001. This women college are situated in the village ‘Kala Tibba’, Abohar, Punjab and aims to deliver sound education to its privileged womanhood. Situated in a large 26 acre campus, BSHKC is an affiliated college endorsed by the NAAC. Currently the institution has 10 courses under 7 degree programmes, with a student population of 1228 and staffed by fifty-odd faculty members. It has various specialization streams in arts, commerce and computer applications for young women and is committed to provide wholesome learning experience.

It is important for the college to boast about the variety of facilities it has provided in order to improve student-life. A well-stocked and fully computerized library is the knowledge centre equipped with a large number of publications, whereas a well-lit reading hall and internet facility provided to cater to research needs of the students. For the needy, there is a girls’ hostel that offers adequate and well-sanitized accommodating for one hundred students plus indoor-cooked meals. 

The college is concerned with the health of the student and has a medical centre/ visiting doctor when a student gets an ailment the doctor attends to him/her. Here, the institution offers 10 courses, these being under graduate, post graduate and diploma courses. The college is running Bachelor of Arts (B.A), Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), Bachelor of Library and Information Science (B.Lib.I.Sc) and Science (B.Sc Non-Medical) courses. 

At post graduate level, the faculty offers Masters’ Degree in Punjabi, Hindi, History & Sociology. Moreover, the college provide a one year course Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA). Currently, the school takes 1,228 students altogether, and for the sake of its all-female student franchise, BSHKC provides comfortable learning conditions.
