Bharata Mata College better known as BMC was started in the year 1965 It is one of the premier institutions situated in Thrikkakara Kochi Kerala. This affiliated college which occupies a total of 20.5 acres of land has been imparting higher education for last more than five decades. BMC is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) it has 28 courses in 10 degrees. In total enrolment of 2,621 and faculty of 127, the college has a favourable student faculty ratio. Based on the ethnic origin, gender distribution in BMC is also diverse whereby 56% of student enrolment was female students in undergraduate programme while 71% in postgraduate courses indicating the institution’s policy on provision of education for all.

With over 28 courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels, BMC offers enough student opportunities to achieve desired academic endeavours. These schools have ten specific courses of study, which other institutions commonly provide, namely: B.Com, BBA, B.Sc, BA, MBA, MSW, etc. The total admission capacity of college is 2,621  all the courses and it has more enrolment in undergraduate level. The past academic year proved advantageous for BMC as it produced a good number of graduates in view of its focus on academics and students.

For admission into the Bharata Mata College the basic process followed is Centralised Allotment Process CAP conducted by the University. For the undergraduate degree programmes, the institution uses UG CAP which stands for Undergraduate Centralised Allotment Process, for the postgraduate programmes the institution of use PGCAP, which stands for Postgraduate Centralised Allotment Process. The MBA programme offered at BMC is open to scores of one of the tests to which MAT – The Management Aptitude Test – has also added an extra option to the list. It also offers scholarships to reward merit and 779 undergraduate and 100 postgraduate students benefitted from scholarships, in the previous academic year.
